    Correia elected President of Cape Verde Basketball Federation

    PRAIA - A four-time FIBA AfroBasket competitor, Mario Correia is the new President of Cape Verde Basketball Federation.

    PRAIA - A four-time FIBA AfroBasket competitor, Mario Correia is the new President of Cape Verde Basketball Federation (FCBB).

    Correia replaces Andre Delgado, who had been in charge since July 2016. He won 5 of 6 votes in Saturday's FCCB elections.

    Following last month's resignation of the previous FCBB board led by Delgado, a provisional committee took charge while handling the men's national team at the FIBA Africa Zone 2 Qualifiers for the FIBA AfroBasket 2017.

    One of the most capped Cape Verde international - along with Rodrigo Mascarenhas - Correia will serve a four-year term.

    The 38-year-old shooting guard, who last represented his country at FIBA AfroBasket 2015, will have Mascarenhas as his deputy.
