Celebrating grassroots basketball at the 2020 FIBA Open
MIES (Switzerland) – 33 Teams and 130 youths took part in the 6th edition of the FIBA Open, Switzerland’s biggest grassroots 3x3 tournament, at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball
MIES (Switzerland) – 33 Teams and 130 youths took part in the 6th edition of the FIBA Open, Switzerland’s biggest grassroots 3x3 tournament, at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball. Under a shining sun, all players enjoyed being able to finally play again.
U9, U12 and U14 were able to show their talents on 6 courts set up for the occasion.
Strict security measures elaborated with the FIBA Medical Commission were put in place in the outdoor event, and players and accompanying parents acted very respectful and responsible. Smiling eyes were seen all around.

The slimmed down version of the 2020 FIBA Open was a successful try to get slowly back to normality. FIBA had recently seen the comeback of the professional 3x3 World Tour in Debrecen, Hungary.

“We were very happy to see so many youths playing" said FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis. "The FIBA Open is our way of giving back to the wonderful community and region in which our headquarters are situated, and we worked hard to make the event happen this year, despite the difficult circumstances” .
Swiss Basketball Federation President Giancarlo Sergi was present to see the return of basketball in Switzerland and gave the awards to the promising U9 teams.

PEAK equipped all players with a reversible uniform and Molten donated balls to award the winners of each category as well as to the winners of the skills challenge and the Dr.Dish shootout contest.
