TUNJA (Colombia) – Brazil defeated Argentina 80-59 to successfully defend its South American U21 Championship, in the Colombian city of Tunja.

The Brazilian national team played a great game and defeated Argentina without leaving room for doubt. The Brazilians dominated the game from the get-go.

From the beginning, those led by Leonardo Figueiró Alves managed to take the lead on the scoreboard, in that stretch of the game, for the offensive work from Felipe Sandoval Ruivo. Argentina towards the end of the quarter had a positive lapse and went on to win by one point, ending the first quarter 16-15.

In the second quarter, Brazil played perfect defense and left the opponent with only five points. This, in addition to good offense, led the Amazonian team to a considerable 38-21 at the end of the first half.

Argentina showed a different side and cut the difference to single digits. Brazil reacted and extended the difference once again. Brazil went into the last quarter with a 16-point difference.

Nothing changed in the fourth quarter and the Brazilians celebrated the championship.
