AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (3x3) - The third edition of the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup (previously known as FIBA 3x3 European Championships) will be held in Amsterdam from 7-9 July 2017.
The Dutch capital will also play host to the sixth edition of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in 2019, FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak announced in a press conference on 13 February 2017.
The Netherlands already held several FIBA 3x3 Europe Qualifiers in past years and rank 4th overall in the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking (1st in U18 men and U18 women).
The U18 women's national team won silver at the 3x3 event of the 2014 Youth Olympic Games while the men's national team won bronze at the 2016 FIBA 3x3 European Championships, marking the first time a Dutch senior national team won a medal in an international basketball event.
Both events will be hosted by the Dutch Basketball Federation (NBB) and organised by TIG Sports and the House of Sports, on Museumplein, one of the most iconic squares in the centre of Amsterdam.
Forty-six teams (men and women combined) from 26 countries have registered to earn their ticket to the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup.
They will compete in one of the two qualifiers held in Poitiers (France) from 23-24 June and Escaldes-Engordany (Andorra) from 24-25 June.
Twelve men's teams and 12 women's teams will compete in Amsterdam from 7-9 July.
