    Support by a large turn-out of supporters host of 26th FIBA Africa Championship for Men Madagascar failed to appreciate its supporters as it fell to more determined Mozambican side by 67-77 points in a group-A pairing.

    The madagascan surrender in the first and second quarters by 12-18 and 14-18 points to trail by ten points at the break 26-36 points.

    The Coach Angel Manzano Polo tutored however came into the third quarter with a mind-set to upturn the table against the Mozambican, their effort paid off when they won the quarter by 23-18 points to reduce the margin to just five points going into the last quarter 49-54 but determination saw the Mozambican side through as they mount ceaseless pressure on the Madagascar side forcing they to drop the last quarter by 18-23 points.

    Mozambique Stelio Nuaila led his side with 15 points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds, David Canivete and Fernando Mandlate added 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 12 points 4 rebounds 4 steals and 2 assists for their side vital win of the opening day.
