HELSINKI (EuroBasket 2017) - France have overcome a resilient Greece to win their first game of the tournament in Group A action on Saturday.

Having led by 24 points at one stage, France nearly let slip another lead as Greece got within 6 points late in the game but they survived to register a 95-87 victory. France pulled through in the clutch to avoid a similar fate to their Day 1 loss to Finland.

France were led by Joffrey Lauvergne, who starred early and finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Thanasis Antetokounmpo sparked his team with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks but Greece have now fallen to a 1-1 record.
