Cholet complete comeback as Anwil await in Finals

MUNICH (Germany) - Anwil effectively defended their First Leg lead in a slow-paced affair, while Cholet came out hot backed by their home crowd as both  teams navigated different paths to the FEC Final.

MUNICH (Germany) - Anwil Wloclawek and Cholet Basket both advanced to the FIBA Europe Cup Finals on Wednesday with contrasting second leg victories.

The two teams will battle it out for the title after Cholet overturned a first leg deficit to prevail 154-139 on aggregate, while Anwil backed up their dominant home win for an overall 157-134 triumph.

Cholet were seven points down after last week's loss to BC Kalev/Cramo, but they responded in style on home court to take a convincing 81-59 win and advance to the Finals.

Dominic Artis in particular came out hot; scoring 18 points in 17 minutes in the first half, including 4-of-4 shooting from three-point range. The guard would finish with a game-high of 20 points with Hugo Robineau adding 16 points and Boris Dallo contributing 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists in the win.

The visitors had 18 points from Wesley Van Beck as they were kept to 32-percent shooting from the floor as they were unable to back up their performance from the first leg. Cholet had established a 15-point lead by half-time to wipe out the deficit and pushed on further in the third quarter to lead by as many as 27 on the night.

Earlier, Anwil had secured their spot in the Finals with a hard-fought 67-63 success on the road against Karhu Basket following their 19-point victory last week. No team led by more than six points in the contest as the visitors completed the job.

Another solid all-around team effort ensured Anwil carry on their momentum in the competition. Phillip Greene was a standout performer in leading all scorers with 17 points - once again coming up with big plays at important moments.

Karhu got another solid showing from Dikembe Dixson with his effort of 16 points leading the hosts as their European venture stopped one step short of the Finals.
