PRIZREN (Kosovo Basketball Superleague) - There is a new sheriff in town in the Kosovo Basketball Superleague, with Bashkimi Prizren claiming their maiden domestic championship title after toppling the defending champions Sigal Prishtina.
The Prizren-based club made history by crowning a 3-1 series win with a 77-61 triumph in Game 4 on their home floor on Wednesday evening, becoming the sixth different club in the league's history to lift the trophy.
This result ended Sigal Prishtina's four-year reign, but the club from the capital remains the most titled club in the country with a total of 12 championship titles.
Aaron Walton-Moss turned in another big performance for Bashkimi with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists, Mikaile Tmusic also collected 17 points and 5 boards, while Altin Morina chipped in with 16 points.
Meanwhile, Filip Brundovic had a game-high 24 points and 9 rebounds for Sigal Prishtina, but no other players entered into double-digit territory for the visitors.
The Stratos Koukoulekidis-coached Bashkimi club entered the Play-Offs as the second seed, but dominated the proceedings in the Finals against their main opponents, who had been defeated only once all season long before the title series.
Sigal Prishtina took part in the FIBA Europe Cup this season, bowing out in the Regular Season despite a strong start to their campaign. They finished third in Group G with a 3-3 record.
