    Serbia star Topic takes home MVP award

    NIS (Serbia) - Nikola Topic had double reason to celebrate at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2023 as he helped Serbia take home the trophy and was also named the tournament MVP.

    NIS (Serbia) - Nikola Topic had double reason to celebrate at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2023 as he helped Serbia take home the trophy and was also named the tournament MVP.

    Topic had a well-rounded tournament and averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game as Serbia won all seven games in the event.


    He was joined in the All-Star Five by his teammate Bogoljub Markovic who ended the tournament with averages of 14.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

    A pair of players from Spain also made the All-Star Five in Aday Mara and Hugo Gonzalez. Mara averaged 14.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 2.3 assists per game, while Gonzalez tallied 14.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game.

    Rounding out the All-Star Five is Ivan Kharchenkov who helped Germany to its first FIBA U18 European Championship medal after averaging 17.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
