ANDORRA LA VELLA (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2016 Division C) - Malta and Andorra put on a couple of brilliant defensive performances ahead of the Qualifying Games for the Semi-Finals.

Malta held Wales to ten points in both halves of a 54-20 win in Group A. Kristy Galea was the top performer with 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals, as Sandro Farrugia gave at least ten minutes of playing time to all twelve of his players.

Malta forced Wales to 41 turnovers and registered 26 steals, compared to just seven for their opponents. Shona Williams had six points and nine rebounds for Wales.

Malta have taken the number two seed from Group A, while Wales have to play against Andorra in the Qualifying Game for the Semi-Finals.

Andorra defeated Gibraltar 61-23 to claim second place in Group B. Lies Bosma Cortes was just a rebound shy of a triple-double, scoring 15 points, stealing ten balls and grabbing nine rebounds. Silvia Badaji Obiols had ten points and seven steals, while Julia Marquez Tomas completed an all-round game with eight points, 13 steals, five rebounds and four assists.

Andorra had 47 steals, as Gibraltar turned the ball over a disastrous 68 times. Arianne Garro had 12 points for Gibraltar. Naylin Ward collected an impressive 27 rebounds, but Gibraltar will need a lot more scoring against Malta.

The winner of that duel goes on to meet Georgia in the Semi-Finals. Kosovo await the winner of the Andorra and Wales match-up.
