MUNICH (Germany) - There were some special performances during the opening week of the EuroLeague Women Regular Season, including Eva Lisec of Dynamo Kursk who achieved the highest efficiency score of any player.
The Russian side racked up an 86-76 home floor victory against VBW Arka Gdynia, with Slovenian national team center Lisec on fire. She went to work at both ends of the court and returned a stellar line of 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Meanwhile her Dynamo Kursk teammate Natasha Howard also proved unstoppable as the other half of the twin towers claimed a fine double-double of 22 points and 11 boards. Shooting 11 of 15 from the field, she also handed out 5 assists.
Alina Iagupova showed why she was the MVP of the Regular Season last year and it was like the summer never happened as she picked up where she left off. She showed out in a big way for Fenerbahce Safiport with a stunning display in the 89-69 derby win at Galatasaray. It was a case of making and creating for the Ukrainian as she accumulated 29 points and 11 assists, as well as pulling down 5 rebounds.
While Iagupova was lighting it up in the backcourt, Elizabeth Williams was doing the business in the frontcourt and on the defensive end for Fenerbahce. She could barely miss as she made 8 of 9 en-route to an 18-point and 11-rebounds double-double. Although it was her stunning six blocked shots that really caught the eye.
Last but not least, Olivia Epoupa had a memorable debut for BLMA in the competition as they came back to squeeze out an exciting 75-74 win against ZVVZ USK Praha. The playmaker starred with a standout 22 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals.
