MUNICH (Germany) - Basket Landes rising star Marine Fauthoux has underlined her status as one of the most exciting talents of her generation after being named EuroLeague Women Young Player of the Year.

The 21-year-old playmaker becomes only the second ever winner of the category, following in the footsteps of her France teammate Iliana Rupert, who won back-to-back awards in 2020 and 2021.

The growth of Fauthoux across the season has been impressive, averaging more than 24.7 minutes per game in the wake of a loan move to Landes from LDLC ASVEL Feminin. The court time handed to her only serves to demonstrate her maturity and progress, with Fauthoux contributing 12.9 points, 3.9 assists and 2.7 rebounds during the Regular Season.

Despite her young age, Fauthoux carried Basket Landes to a 7-7 season and ultimately into the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals, finishing as the team's second leading scorer and assister.

Fauthoux was ranked in first place across all those who voted, including EuroLeague Women coaches, club captains, media and the fans. She fought off competition from the other contenders, with Aliz Varga of Sopron Basket taking second place and Vanesa Jasa of TTT Riga taking third.

The Euroleague Women Awards recognize the top players and coaches of the 2021-22 Regular Season, with EuroLeague Women coaches, captains, selected media and fans from all around the world deciding the winners.
