MUNICH (Germany) - The upcoming EuroLeague Women campaign is continuing to take shape, with the locations for three of the four for November-December Regular Season hubs approved.
Following extensive consultations with the participating clubs and the respective National Federations, Fenerbahce (Istanbul, Turkey) and Sopron Basket (Sopron, Hungary) were confirmed as hosts of the tournaments for Group B and D, respectively.
Meanwhile, the applications of Spar Girona (Girona, Spain) and ACS Sepsi SIC (Sfantu Gheorghe, Romania) were accepted to organize the Group C hub, with the final destination now dependent on the outcome of the play-in game between the two clubs in the Qualifiers and which team progresses to the Regular Season.
The location of the Group A tournament will be confirmed at a later stage, following an additional round of consultations with the clubs.
Following the format changes approved by the FIBA Europe Board in September, each of the groups will convene in single venue hubs twice over the course of the Regular Season.
The first of two hubs will take place from November 29 - December 5, 2020, with the second round of fixtures scheduled to be played from January 17-23, 2021.
The hosts of the January hubs will be announced at a later time.
In order to protect the health and guarantee the safety of players, coaches and officials, as well as to safeguard a fair competition, and to properly organize game operations, all other phases of the competition, including the Qualifiers and the Quarter-Finals, will also be conducted in single venue hubs.
FIBA Europe will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Europe on a daily basis and communicate further updates regarding EuroLeague Women when necessary.
