    Grgic keeps faith with trusted core and looks to add Evans

    LJUBLJANA (FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017) – Slovenia head coach Damir Grgic has selected 14 players as he prepares to take his country into their first ever FIBA EuroBasket Women Final Round.

    LJUBLJANA (FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017) – Slovenia head coach Damir Grgic has selected 14 players as he prepares to take his country into their first-ever FIBA EuroBasket Women Final Round.

    The play-caller has put his faith in the players who punched a ticket to the prestigious tournament for the first time in Slovenia's history, as well as confirming an interesting move to potentially field a first naturalized player.

    Grgic is working with winger Shante Marie Evans at Athlete Celje where she has impressed with some nice numbers and she now has an opportunity to add some athleticism and scoring prowess to Slovenia's roster.

    "All our players are well known and we have monitored their performances during the club season and I have no doubt that the preparations will see everyone well motivated and ready to work," said Coach Grgic.

    "We are already eagerly awaiting the start of our preparations and our first EuroBasket Women Final Round.

    "This will be the first time we have played at a big competition, which is a great honor, but also a responsibility for us to show our best."

    The list is headed by EuroLeague Women star Nika Baric of UMMC Ekaterinburg, along with her fellow guard Teja Oblak who has impressed at Good Angels Kosice in recent years. The team will also be founded on the veteran experience of Maja Erkic and Sandra Pirsic.

    Slovenia are in Group C and will test themselves against France, Greece and reigning champions, Serbia.
