BERLIN (Germany) - Willy Hernangomez collected the TISSOT MVP award at FIBA EuroBasket 2022 after playing a leading role in the title triumph of Spain.
The 28-year-old contributed 14 points and 8 rebounds in the Final with tournament averages of 17.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game to also lead the TISSOT All-Star Five. He reached double figures in scoring in each of the nine games with a personal best of 27 points recorded in the Quarter-Finals.
Hernangomez was also joined by his teammate Lorenzo Brown, who had a double-double of 14 points and 11 assists in the victory over France. Brown posted impressive numbers in his debut EuroBasket appearance with 15.2 points and 7.6 assists over the course of the tournament.
Despite missing out on the title with France, Rudy Gobert also made the lineup after putting up 12.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game across nine appearances as well as finishing in the top 10 in blocks. The center had a personal best display of 20 points and 17 rebounds in the Round of 16.
Dennis Schroder helped lead Germany to a third-place finish with tournament averages of 22.1 points and 7.1 assists to rank in the top five in both categories. The 29-year-old reached at least 25 points in four games - including the last three played - with a best of 30 points coming in the Semi-Finals defeat to Spain.
Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo earned his selection as the tournament's leading scorer with 29.3 points per game across six appearances for Greece. Giannis fired in a personal best of 41 points in a Group Phase victory against Ukraine and posted three double-doubles before a Quarter-Finals exit at the hands of Germany.
