    BERLIN (Germany) - Lauri Markkanen matched the single game-high for efficiency at FIBA EuroBasket 2022 after a stunning display as the Round of 16 reached its conclusion on Sunday.

    The 25-year-old dropped a remarkable 43 points to guide Finland into the last eight of the tournament for the first time in 55 years as they defeated Croatia 94-86. Markkanen was 19-of-29 from the floor and also added 9 rebounds and 3 assists in the win.

    Giannis Antetokounmpo completed the Round of 16 action in style with Greece with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists as his side had to battle past Czech Republic to claim a 94-88 win.

    Marco Spissu netted six triples on the way to a 22-point haul, whilst adding 6 assists and 4 rebounds as Italy stunned Serbia with a 94-86 triumph to advance to the Quarter-Finals.

    Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic posted 32 points, 13 rebounds and 4 rebounds in vain for Serbia as their medal hopes were dashed at the hands of an inspired Italian side.

    Mateusz Ponitka earned a spot in the lineup after contributing an all-round effort of 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead Poland past Ukraine for a 94-86 victory - making their first appearance at the Quarter-Finals stage since 1997.
