BERLIN (Germany) - The FIBA EuroBasket 2022 has witnessed some amazing storylines and historic performances. Luka Doncic has been part of a few of them - including his Slovenia being eliminated in the Quarter-Finals against Poland.
Before bidding farewell to Germany, the superstar admitted how fantastic the event has been.
"This EuroBasket was amazing to see. The games were unbelievable," Doncic said after Slovenia were surprisingly eliminated 90-87 by Poland. "I'm sad we couldn't get through, but I think this EuroBasket was something else. It was a lot of amazing and great teams."
Doncic also tipped the hat to the opponents they faced in the Knockout Phase.
"Most people had us as favorites. But Poland has a great team, just like Belgium," Doncic emphasized. "Congrats to Poland. They played an amazing game from the first minute until the end. That’s a big achievement for them."
The Slovenian star also told reporters afterwards that he was not 100 percent against Poland but he still feels he let his team and his country down.
"I received an injection in the third quarter. I have been dealing with a lot this EuroBasket. But this is not the reason I played terrible. I let my team down. I let the whole country who was supporting us down. And also me. I need to look back on this game and get better," he said.
