Finland finish home stand with comeback victory over Iceland
HELSINKI (EuroBasket 2017) - Hosts Finland finished the Group Phase with a comeback victory over Iceland, who failed to win a game in the tournament.
HELSINKI (EuroBasket 2017) - Finland finished their home stretch with a comeback 83-79 victory over winless Iceland.
Despite the game having no bearing on the standings, with Finland having already secured second position in Group A and a Round of 16 match-up with Italy, Finland star Lauri Markkanen played in crunch time and delivered late heroics once again.
After Finland trailed by 9 points early in the fourth, Markkanen scored 12 of his 23 points in the final period to inspire his team to victory. Jon Arnor Stefansson led Iceland with 13 points.
The game had plenty of highlights, including a half-court half-time buzzer beater from Sasu Salin and memorable renditions of the 'Viking Clap' from the capacity crowd at Helsinki Arena.
