    Latvia line-up confirmed for Tenerife as countdown to historic debut continues

    RIGA (FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018) - Martin Zibarts has confirmed the 12 players ready to  make history as Latvia get ready to compete at their maiden FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.

    RIGA (FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2018) - Martin Zibarts has confirmed the 12 players  who will be ready to  make history as  Latvia  get ready to compete at their maiden FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.

    As anticipated, the roster is based on the players who took the last ticket to the event with sixth place last year in Prague at the FIBA Women's EuroBasket.

    The team will continue to be inspired by its experienced star Gunta Basko-Melnbarde, along with other players who have seen it all before, such as frontcourt duo Anete Steinberga and Aija Putnina. 

    There is a return for wing ace Kitija Laksa who scored more triples than any other player in the Czech capital last year, while there is a chance for another NCAA star in Diga Strautmane.

     The Syracuse standout has excelled at youth level for her country, including impressive showings at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup.

    Latvia will face China, Senegal and the USA in Group D and had their confidence boosted by a spectacular 94-57 demolition of Greece during preparation over the weekend.
