Success of FIBA youth events recognized at Weibo Basketball Awards
XIAMEN (China) - FIBA had the honor of being handed the 'Annual Rising Star Event' prize at the prestigious Weibo Basketball Awards Ceremony in China.
XIAMEN (China) - FIBA had the honor of being handed the 'Annual Rising Star Event' prize at the prestigious Weibo Basketball Awards Ceremony in China.
Created and hosted by Sina Weibo, the event took place in Xiamen, Fujian Province and was very much a celebration of sport and basketball.
Presented by former China national team star Li Xin, the award underlined the impressive efforts made by FIBA in organizing and successfully promoting international youth competitions.
These events all provided the perfect platform for rising star players to showcase their talents, as well as contributing to the development and growth of basketball from a talent cultivation perspective.
The FIBA Weibo channel produced phenomenal digital performances right across the suite of FIBA youth events that were held during 2024. These included the likes of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cups and the FIBA U18 Asia Cup competitions.
Mr. Kelvin Fang, Managing Director of FIBA China commented: "It's great for our FIBA youth events to be recognized in this way and to be able to receive this award. It highlights our relentless commitment developing the next generation of basketball stars.
"It was positive for Chinese basketball to have so many young players from the national team demonstrating their skills across the various FIBA tournaments. We now look forward to seeing more rising stars joining us in empowering the development of basketball globally."
Several influential athletes, content creators, as well as representatives from organizations and institutions from China's vibrant basketball community were all in attendance and some were invited to hand out various awards.
The CBA Draft and Nike China High School Basketball League were also recognized in the 'Annual Rising Star Event' category.
Additionally, other awards handed out included 'Outstanding Creator of the Year', 'Most Popular Streetball Player', 'Most Popular Influencer of the Year' and 'Promoter of the Year'.
