GUAM (FIBA U17 Women’s Oceania Championship 2017) – Australia opened the FIBA U17 Women’s Oceania Championship 2017 with a 163-13 blowout of Tahiti. New Zealand wasn't phased by the home crowd knocking off host nation Guam, 139 - 34. Guam played an aggressive defensive game but was not able to keep up with the size and quickness of New Zealand. The home fans should help give Guam a boost as they look to regroup and bounce back on Day 2.
Samoa opened their U17 Oceania account with a huge win over Marshall Islands 120-12. Samoa relied on their size and strength to dominate in the paint. Marshall Islands kept going hard until they heard that final siren, not giving up until the end.
