MIES (Switzerland) - Week 8 of the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League season is now in the books, and now that we've digested Tuesday's and Wednesday's action, Thursday brings us a chance to reflect on the best individual performances.
The ninth Team of the Week consists of Kendale McCullum, Jerome Robinson, Marcelinho Huertas, Derrick Alston Jr and Ismael Kamagate.
McCullum propelled Maccabi Ramat-Gan to a tiebreaker win over AEK Betsson BC, with a lot of damage done on the defensive end, falling just one short of the all-time BCL record for steals in a single game.
Robinson was on target as Saint-Quentin Basket-Ball held off Kolossos H Hotels on the road, completing the sweep and securing a spot in the Play-Ins. Next week, SQBB will challenge Karsiyaka and could potentially earn home court advantage in the Play-Ins.
The top of that group belongs to La Laguna Tenerife, with another point guard masterclass performed by Marcelinho Huertas. Last season's MVP was simply too much for Karsiyaka on the day, getting Tenerife their 24th home win in a row.
BAXI Manresa were in trouble in Lisbon, trailing by double digits to SL Benfica, but Alston Jr led the charge as they took the lead in the fourth and eased away to their fourth straight BCL win.
Manresa are not top of their group because Kamagate and Bertram Derthona Basket are still perfect. The center became the first player in BCL history to get 5+ blocks in three games in a single season.
You can now vote for the Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Friday, when the poll closes, on the official BCL social media channels: Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram.
