UDINE (FIBA U18 Women's European Championship 2018) - Serbia made everyone sit up and take notice on the second day of the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship by humbling Spain.

Serbia had trailed by double-digits early in the contest, but came roaring back to take a memorable 58-47 success - one that sealed a 23-point turnaround.

The victory was founded on a towering display by Jelena Mitrovic, who racked up a double-double of 11 points and 17 boards as she went to work on the glass.

Another podium frontrunner also suffered a major setback as Germany were beaten 64-53 by an ambitious Hungary side that could be the dark horses of this competition. Barbara Angyal did the business with an all-action 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.

Germany were rocked early by an injury to star center Nyara Sabally who was the shining light on Day One of the tournament. She was taken to hospital to assess a possible fracture to her lower leg.

Elsewhere, a relieved Italy got off the mark after suffering an opening day loss. They bounced back with a 50-62 win against Sweden.
