    Savkov adds MVP award to Russia's gold

    SARAJEVO (FIBA U16 European Championship 2018, Division B) – Having helped Russia secure the FIBA U16 European Championship 2018, Division B title, Pavel Savkov captured the Most Valuable Player award.

    SARAJEVO (FIBA U16 European Championship 2018, Division B) – Having helped Russia secure the FIBA U16 European Championship 2018, Division B title, Pavel Savkov captured the Most Valuable Player award with a stellar individual campaign in Sarajevo.

    The 16-year-old  shooting guard put up 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in a victorious title clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the Russian side celebrated an 83-77 victory to claim gold.

    Over the course of the tournament, Savkov averaged 15.9 points, 8,0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals for an average efficiency score of 18.3, the best mark on the trophy-winning Russia team.

    His teammate Aleksandr Evseev also earned a spot on the All-Star Five with consistent performances in his international debut.

    Despite coming up short in the Final, Bosnia and Herzegovina guard Alem Huseinovic also got rewarded with a place among the top performers after landing the home nation on the second step of the podium, with a ticket to Division A in hand.

    Marko Milovanovikj of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Czech Republic's rising star Ondrej Hanzlik rounded out the All-Star Five selection.
