Chinese Taipei, Unified Korea, Japan, and China advance to Asian Games Women’s Basketball Semifinals
JAKARTA (Asian Games 2018) – East Asian nations Chinese Taipei, Unified Korea, Japan, and China secure Semifinals tickets after Quarterfinals wins today.
JAKARTA (Asian Games 2018) – The Semifinals of the Women’s Basketball tournament at the Asian Games 2018 will be featuring East Asian nations Chinese Taipei, Unified Korea, Japan, and China after each respective team won their Quarterfinals match-ups today.
Chinese Taipei claimed their win over Mongolia, 76-59. Mongolia actually had the lead at halftime, but Chinese Taipei finished the third quarter with a 15-4 run to break away for the win. Huang Yingli had a brilliant game with 28 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals to lead her team to the Semis.
Unified Korea had little trouble holding off Thailand, 106-63, to get to the next round. They led 60-19 at the end of the first half and cruised from there up until the final buzzer. The victors bombarded their opponents with 17 three-pointers at a conversion rate of 47% en route to their win. Kang Leeseul had 20 points to lead the team while fellow teammates Park Hana and Lim Yunghui added 18 apiece for Unified Korea.

Japan were aggressive to get their 104-57 win over Kazakhstan, advancing them to the Semifinals. They relentlessly attacked the basket, leading to 37 attempts from the free-throw line and finished 73% of those opportunities. Japan also got their hands on 18 steals, a crucial part of how they were able to build on to their big win. Aya Watanabe and Tamami Nakada each had 19 points in the win.
China lorded over Indonesia with a 141-37, taking down the hosts as they near their way towards the final stage. Indonesia were held to single digit scoring in both quarters of the first half, falling behind 69-13 heading into the locker room. China shot a scorching 70.2% from the field while locking Indonesia to only 13 field goals in total. Li Yueru had 25 points and 10 rebounds.
