    U16 top scorer Abdullah headlines Iraq’s provisional roster

    BAGHDAD (2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship) - The 2015 FIBA Asia U16 top-scorer, Abdullah Abdullah, has been selected in Iraq’s provisional 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship roster.

    BAGHDAD (2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship) - The 2015 FIBA Asia U16 top-scorer, Abdullah Abdullah, has been included in Iraq’s provisional 2016 FIBA Asia U18 Championship roster.

    Abdullah is joined on the 17-player list by Mohammed Al Mahdi Abbas, Muntadher Jassanee, Sajjad Al-Saedi and Ali Fadhil. All played for Iraq last November at the 2016 FIBA Asia U16 Championship.

    The 2000-born Abdullah was one of the few bright spots for Iraq in the 2015 FIBA Asia U16 Championship in Jakarta. The Middle-Eastern team finished ninth but the Anbar native posted impressive numbers and was the tournament's leading scorer with 24 points, as well as averaging over 8 rebounds per game.

    The 24th FIBA Asia U18 Championship is the qualifying event for the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship, the venue for which will be decided soon. The top three teams from the 24th FIBA Asia U18 Championship will represent Asia at the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship.
