    SAN JUAN (2009 FIBA Americas Championship) - Argentina defeated Canada 67-51 and won their third straight game at the FIBA Americas Championship played at Coliseo Roberto Clemente.

    Once again Luis Scola had an excellent supporting cast and gave a headache to the Canadian defense who always saw a new figure scoring for the South Americans.

    Argentina started the game with two straight three pointers, one by Federico Kammerichs and another by Paolo Quinteros with 7:42 left. The first ten minutes ended 15-13 in favor of Argentina who was led by Kammerichs who netted 7.

    In the second quarter Canada came back and tied it at 24 after a basket by Tyler Kepkay who completed a 7-0 run. Leo Gutierrez scored two straight three pointers to give Argentina a 30-24 lead and at the half they were up 36-28. Kammerichs had 9 points and guard Pablo Prigioni 8 for the Argentineans. Canada was led by Carl English who had 9.

    Another burst by Gutierrez gave Argentina a 53-36 lead with 1:52 left and his teammates continued to score inside to get another win in the tournament.

    Leo Gutierrez led with 15 points (5-7 3 pt), Federico Kammerichs 13 and Luis Scola 12 points with 9 boards.

    Carl English led Canada with 17 points while Jesse Young followed with 13.
