Bill Self to coach USA at FIBA U18 Americas Championship
USA Basketball announced Bill Self will take over Head Coach duties for the USA on its quest for a fifth-straight gold medal at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 from June 11-17 in St Catharines.

“It’s an honor to be selected to coach, and I look forward to working with Danny and Anthony and the young men that will represent the USA in the U18 competition,” said the also Head Coach of the Kansas Jayhawks in the USA Basketball Press Release. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and I’m really looking forward to it.”
USA Basketball also announced Anthony Grant and Danny Manning as the U18 National Team Assistant Coaches.
Training camp for the USA U18 National Team will begin on May 31, and the final roster is expected to be announced on June 2.
The 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship will be played June 10-16, and will feature the participation of Argentina, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Panama, Puerto Rico, USA and host Canada.
The top four teams from the continental championship will qualify to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019.
