BUENOS AIRES - Preparations for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers set to tip off in November 2017 are underway in the Americas with the first-ever Technical Delegates Candidates Workshop currently being held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Divided into two working sessions, 30 participants will work on a range of topics and exercises. Team building, online tests, game preparation, reaction in case of incidents and overall on-field actions and information were part of the activities for the participants that are hopping to be selected as FIBA Technical Delegates for the New Competition System and Calendar structure.

"Basketball faces an unprecedented challenge that requires a leap of quality and technical merits. To meet these challenges it is necessary to prepare for what the future holds and this workshop meets that goal. FIBA looks for excellence and we all want to be part of this new era of basketball," said Workshop participant Oswaldo Narvaez.

"I believe that the new FIBA Competition System and Calendar will generate great opportunities for the federations and will increase basketball's fan base. The workshop was extremely important to understand all aspects related to the function of the technical delegates, learn about how the new system will be implemented and the details about the important regulation," said Technical Delegate hopeful Paulo Bassul.

"We were exposed to practical situations and I'm sure that everybody will return home with a broader knowledge on the matter at hand. FIBA is preparing for an unprecedented event, a new era of international basketball."

FIBA New Competition System and Calendar from 2017 onwards opens a new era for basketball all over the world - one which features 1,680 top players in 1,200 national teams games and millions of fans all around the globe.
