Mokongo remains positive despite being ruled out for the remainder of the tournament

DAKAR (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - The Central African Republic will face Uganda on Saturday without playmaker Michael Mokongo, the team announced.

DAKAR (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - The Central African Republic (CAF) will face Uganda on Saturday without playmaker Michael Mokongo, the team announced.

Mokongo fell over an opponent, hurting his knee in Friday's 76-66 defeat to Morocco.

After a medical examination, the team couldn't confirm his diagnostic, however, the 31-year-old guard was more realistic about his condition.

"I am done for the tournament, for sure," he said to FIBA.basketball.

Nevertheless, he remains positive. "Hopefully, my brothers can step up. So many people came to support us. I feel like I let my country down."

Central African fans turned up in big numbers in support of their heroes

"I was born a soldier and will die as a soldier. I was built for every situation," he noted.

CAF and Uganda - who both opened their Group B campaigns on the losing side - will do battle for the right to keep their Quarter-Finals aspirations alive.
