Getting around Côte d'Ivoire
From the airport to the city centre in Côte d'Ivoire
Hotel shuttles.
All business hotels in Abidjan have a free airport shuttle service.
Mid-range hotels and guesthouses also offer this service at an additional cost.
VTC taxis.
The local VTC company, Yango, is king, but Heetch exists (more expensive). The fare is calculated in advance on the app, so there's no trickery! You pay directly in cash and you have to add tolls (bridges and motorways). Expect to pay between FCFA 2,500 and FCFA 3,000 for Marcory or Plateau, rising to FCFA 5,500 for Cocody. Make sure you leave enough time, as vehicles here take a long time to arrive because of the traffic, and go to the drop-off point. They are available at the airport until midnight and can also take you to Bassam or Assinie, otherwise there are official red taxis.
Taxi counters.
There are also the official taxis (red), which will be sure to ask for you as soon as you arrive, as will the porters (don't let them take your luggage or you'll have to pay them fancy prices). Check out Yango to see how much the fare is to give you an idea of how much you can expect to pay, bearing in mind that taxis are a little more expensive, but always present, safe and easy to identify on arrival. Don't take a clandestine taxi, as there is a risk that all your belongings will be stolen. Enjoy your arrival!
Sotra bus.
There is a Sotra bus service that leaves directly from the airport terminal, route no. 6. It serves Marcory Bietry (Bd de Marseille), Treichville and stops at Plateau south station (platform L06).
