FIBA WOMEN'S AFROBASKET 2025
The FIBA Women's AfroBasket is the main women's basketball event in Africa and is organised by the Africa Regional Office.
The FIBA Women's AfroBasket takes place every two years and comprises 16 national teams divided into four groups of four teams each.
The 12 national teams meet at the end of a Women's AfroBasket qualifying tournament in which all nations take part and which takes place over qualifying periods in February and November 2024 and finishes in February 2025.
The 2025 edition of the AfroBasket will be held in Côte d'Ivoire, which will be hosting the tournament for the very first time. It will take place from 27 July to 03 August 2025.
Nigeria has won the last four editions of the tournament (2023, 2021, 2019 and 2017).
The Women's AfroBasket comprises 28 matches, with the finalists playing between 5 and 6 matches, depending on whether they qualify for the quarter-finals. For example, if a team qualifies for the next round via a quarter-final classification match and goes through to the semi-finals, that team will have played 6 matches, unlike a team that qualifies directly for the quarter-finals and plays one fewer match.
