    FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket

    It's the great return of the future stars of African basketball !

    The FIBA Women's U18 African Championship will now be called: FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket. It is the most prestigious competition for women's national youth teams.

    It is organised by FIBA Africa, the International Basketball Federation's regional office in Africa.

    The first edition of this biennial competition, which brings together 12 national teams, was held in 1985 in Accra, Ghana. Senegal won the first edition of the tournament.

    The future stars of the continent meet at this event to demonstrate their talents and defend their respective countries.

    To date, Mali has a record 8 titles out of 15 editions of the tournament, the last of which was won in Antsirabe, Madagascar, in 2022.

    Mali faced its rival of this decade, the Pharaohs of Egypt, in the final. Maimouna Haidara (Mali), tournament MVP, and Jana Elalfi (Egypt) lived up to the expectations of the tournament, carrying their respective teams throughout the tournament.

    This year, the competition will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, from 1 to 13 September 2024, with 12 national teams taking part.

    The FIBA Women's U18 Afrobasket 2024 will serve as a qualifier for the next U19 World Championship, so the top two teams in this competition will qualify.
