    The FIBA U15 Oceania Championship, which was also known as the FIBA U16 Oceania Championship from 2009 until 2018, has been a significant event in the basketball calendar.

    This tournament has provided a platform for young talents from the Oceania region to showcase their skills and gain international experience. Australia have reached the top of the podium at all six versions of the event, including in 2018 when future NBA pick, Dyson Daniels was named in the All Star Five, while numerous other countries have also introduced rising stars.

    Dante Exum and Ben Simmons played in the 2011 FIBA U16 Oceania Championship for Australia. Dante Exum was a standout player, averaging 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists during the tournament. Ben Simmons also participated and was part of the team that helped Australia qualify for the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship.

    Since its inception, the championship has seen numerous future stars emerge. For instance, many players who participated in these tournaments have gone on to represent their national teams at higher levels, including the FIBA U17 World Cup and beyond. The competition has been instrumental in the development of basketball in the region, helping to raise the profile of the sport and inspire the next generation of players.
