Chaux Sports, KSA move on

    Review

The 2025 Road to BAL West Division came to an end on Thursday in Douala with KSA and Chaux Sports securing the two spots for the next round.

DOUALA (Cameroon) - By winning their games on the last day of the 2025 Road to BAL West Division Group C, Chaux Sports and Kadji Sport Academy (KSA) are through to the Elite 16 Round.

Here's a look back at the events at Complexe multisports de Japoma, in Douala, Cameroon:

    Abeilles come up short

Facing a do-or-die scenario, Central Africa Republic champions Abeilles Basket were no match for KSA, losing 83-62.

The biggest lesson Abeilles Basket may have taken from this elimination game is that one can't afford making only 14 of their 30 free-throw attempts while being careless with the ball, turning it over a whopping 25 times.

Wilfred Gbongo's men tried everything they possibly could, with Kurt-Curry Wegscheider, Yasser Kamayengue and Joel Ntambwe combining for 39 points, but hosts KSA weren't prepared to lose a second game in a row.

The loss means Abeilles Basket return home with a 1-3 mark, while KSA's 3-1 record was more than enough to keep their Basketball Africa League (BAL) dream alive.

And John Wesley Murry II was one of the key factors for the Cameroonian side, finishing with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Simon Bileg came up with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Kenneth Kadji and Jeremy Nzeulie contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively for KSA, who stepped on the floor in a commanding fashion.

KSA led from the tip and never trailed.

    Chaux prevail

Chaux Sport extended their unbeaten run with a 90-64 win over King Africa Basket.

The win means the DR Congo champions advance to the Elite 16 Round with a perfect 4-0 mark while Equatorial Guinea's King Africa Basket joined a group two other eliminated teams - Moanda Basket, Abeilles - who all finished 1-3 in Group C.

In the last game of the group, King Africa kept their chances open in first half, trailing by just 3 points (40-37) at the break, but the second half was a totally different ball game as Chaux Sport went to reach a 29-point advantage - their largest lead.

And Chaux Sports' bench proved crucial, contributing 34 points compared to King Africa's 7.

Samson Elande led the way for the victors, finishing with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals; Etienne Tametong proved crucial again, adding 17 points and Noe Toto Cuma made his presence felt with 19 points and 6 rebounds.

King Africa's Jean Vincent Mouatcho emerged with a game-high 20 points.
