San Lorenzo came on strong in the first window

BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) - The "Ciclón" was undefeated in the first matches of Group C and it will be in great shape in March, when it will seek the quarterfinals.

BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) – Time goes by, but things don't change. While undergoing a change in its lineup, San Lorenzo showed once again that it wants the title in this BCL Americas' second edition. In the previous one, it reached the semifinals but ended up losing against the champion, Quimsa.

In the first window, the "Ciclón" was undefeated in Group C, which played in Buenos Aires, with two good victories: 86-81 against Obras Sanitarias and 73-68 against Franca from Brazil.

The team coached by Silvio Santander had its high notes with the double base formed by Penka Aguirre and José Vildoza, averaging 33 points between the two of them. They also made their teammates play, with an average of 11.5 assists between the two of them. Dar Tucker was a destabilizing player in the matches' important moments, and the internal game was greatly taken care of with the height and presence of Kevin Hernández and Roberto Acuña.

"In a very demanding group against to very good and well-prepared teams, we had good collective moments and high-level individual performances, something that allowed us to win both matches. I liked what I saw in the team. We have to think forward, we shouldn't look at the team’s past, with all the adversities it’s had, nor analyze the present. I understand there's still a lot to improve and, above all, we must do it with all the players, looking for each person's best condition", said coach Santander about San Lorenzo's first window performance.

The Argentine team had to overcome several problems, from the assembly of the team to injuries and Covid contagions, but it was able to keep on going and that's how Santander sees it: "For now, the team has multiplied and it’s played the first window with 6 under-23 or younger players, which is unheard of for the club. The good thing is the young players made the team bigger. I like the tournament’s format because I understand it has adapted to the current times."

To San Lorenzo's great moment at the BCL Americas, one must add that it’s doing very well in Argentina’s National League. The "Ciclón" is in second place, after Quimsa, with a record of 23 wins and 8 defeats, and right now, it's had 7 victories in a row.

For the continental tournament’s next window, which will be in Buenos Aires again, it will play against Obras on 3/7 and the day after that, against Franca, seeking to get closer to the quarterfinals.
