    Latvia lose their captain Bertans for rest of the World Cup

    JAKARTA (INDONESIA) - Latvia shooting guard and team captain Dairis Bertans won't be able to continue his participation in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 due to a hamstring injury.

    JAKARTA (INDONESIA) - Latvia shooting guard and team captain Dairis Bertans won't be able to continue his participation in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 due to a hamstring injury.

    The elder Bertans brother has suffered a left hamstring tear, which will force him to miss 5 weeks of action, the Latvian Basketball Association announced. Bertans hurt his hamstring  in the second quarter of Latvia's historical win against France.

    The veteran of four FIBA EuroBasket tournaments confirmed to Latvian Television he will remain with the team and on the bench as Latvia finish out the group phase and enter the Round of 16.

    FIBA wishes Dairis Bertans a speedy recovery.
