    Italy host Turkey, China and Cape Verde in Trentino Cup

    TRENTO (Italy) - The national teams of Italy, Turkey, China and Cape Verde will play in the Trentino Cup as they gear up for important international basketball games.

    TRENTO (Italy) - The national teams of Italy, Turkey, China, and Cape Verde will play in the Trentino Cup as they gear up for important international basketball games.

    On August 4, Italy face Turkey and Cape Verde go up against China, with the winners playing a Final on August 5. Also, on day two, the losers of the first gameday will battle for third place.

    Italy, China and Cape Verde will use the games as preparation for the FIBA Basketball World Cup, which tips off on August 25.

    Italy and China will both begin their World Cup campaigns in Manila, Philippines, albeit in different groups. Italy are in Group A along with hosts Philippines, Angola, and Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, Cape Verde will start their first ever World Cup appearance in Okinawa, Japan. They will play Slovenia, Georgia, and Venezuela in Group F.

    Turkey are not playing at the World Cup but will be hosting a FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament from August 12-20 in the Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul.

    The Italians, meanwhile, have also announced they will host Puerto Rico in another World Cup preparation game on August 13 in Ravenna, in northern Italy.
