August 27 Top Performers: Schroder, Feliz, Kawamura, Hawkinson and Towns

MANILA (PHILIPPINES) - There's nothing like a teammate who has your back. Just like a few of our Top Performers for Day 3 were happy to have another player on their team go off for a memorable performance.

A performance so good that it even impressed the great Dirk Nowitzki! Dennis Schroder followed in his footsteps as the second German to score 30 points in a World Cup game, only enriching his performance with 8 assists and 4 steals in a 85-82 win against Australia. No other bucket was as important, though, as the point guard's drive in the last minute to put Germany up 83-81 thanks to his clutch layup.

Andres Feliz scored the first points for the Dominican Republic when the score was 0-12 in favor of Italy. He was off to the races from that point on as were the whole Dominican squad in their 87-82 victory over Italy. Feliz knocked down three shots from long range in a short span in the second quarter, only to close out the game with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 7-of-10 shooting from 3-point range.

The Finns are still searching for where Yuki Kawamura is about to pass the ball. The shifty point guard was instrumental in Japan's 18-point comeback that ended in a 98-88 victory against Finland. In a performance that was both efficient and flashy Kawamura racked up 25 points and 9 assists, making 10-of-16 shots from the field in the process.

Where there was Kawamura, Josh Hawkinson was close by. Hawkinson played a huge role in the run that landed Japan a 79-78 lead in the second half and left it all out there in every second of his 37 minutes of playing time. Japan's man down low left the court with 28 points, 19 rebounds, a mammoth 14 made free throws and the tournament's best efficiency rating so far of 44.

 
Only good vibes for Karl-Anthony Towns and the Dominican Republic so far! Towns was a man among boys for the second game in a row as he already had one 20-point double-double to his name in this World Cup. This time around he collected 24 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The versatile big man also joined in on the fun from downtown as he made four out of the team's 16 successful attempts from 3-point range.
