    Baba back in Akatsuki Japan training camp roster in preparation for Window 4

    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The Japan Basketball Association (JBA) have formally announced a 16-player training camp roster in preparation for Window 4 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers.

    Highlighting the training camp roster is Yudai Baba who recently played in the NBA Summer League for the Golden State Warriors. Baba was a key player in the Japan's dramatic World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers run, playing in 10 games and averaging 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.

    Six players are returning from Japan's recent campaign in FIBA Asia Cup 2022 where made it through to the Quarter-Finals before suffering a defeat to eventual champions, Australia. Yuki Togashi leads the charge and is joined by Yutaroh Suda, Hirotaka Yoshii, Yudai Nishida, Soichiro Inoue, and Yuki Kawamura.

    In particular, Kawamura and Suda impressed during the Asia Cup run, leaving fans hungry to see more should they make the final squad for Window 4.

    Japan finished the First Round of the Asian Qualifiers with a 2-4 record, qualifying them for the Second Round as third place in Group B. As a part of Group F in the Second Round, Japan will face Iran and Kazakhstan in Window 4.
