BOLOGNA (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers) - Amadeo Della Valle set a new FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers record for most three-pointers made in a single game with a lights-out display in Bologna.
The 25-year-old Italian sensation connected on 8-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc, leading the Azzurri to a convincing 101-82 victory over Poland. The guard finished the contest with a team-high 28 points, as Italy improved to a 5-2 record in Group J and strengthened their claim on second place in the standings.
Before his record-breaking performance, Della Valle was already one of five players who shared the previous European Qualifiers high, having gone 6-of-9 from deep against Romania in the February window.
The new continental record of 8 triples also tied the best overall mark, co-owned by three players in the Asian Qualifiers - Ki Lee of Hong Kong, Amir Saoud of Lebanon and Japan's Naoto Tsuji.
