Japan are looking to begin their Asia Cup Qualifiers campaign on a high note, avoiding a situation similar to their 4-game losing streak at the start of this past World Cup Qualifiers. They were able to eventually turn things around and win 8 straight games to qualify for the World Cup.
That lengthy winning streak was started at the same Chiba Port Arena where they will tip off their Asia Cup Qualifiers run, when they claimed a historic win over Australia 79-78.
Japan sold out all of their games during the World Cup Qualifiers and are expecting the same level support from their faithful fans throughout the Asia Cup Qualifiers.
Japan and China are both in Group B along with Chinese Taipei and Malaysia. The top two teams of each group will advance directly to the FIBA Asia Cup 2021, while the 6 third-placed teams from their respective groups will play in a separate qualifying tournament to determine the last 4 teams of the playing field.
