    BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The road to FIBA Asia Cup 2025 starts in 2022 as the First Round of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Pre-Qualifiers are scheduled to tip-off from 31 May to 5 June, as confirmed the FIBA Regional Office - Asia.

    18 teams will compete in the Asia Cup Pre-Qualifiers with 9 teams each in the Western Region and Eastern Region of the competition. The Pre-Qualifiers serve to qualify 8 of these teams to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers, joining the 16 teams that already qualified for FIBA Asia Cup 2022.

    Teams in the Western Region of the Pre-Qualifiers are from the WABA, GBA, CABA, and SABA Sub-Zones including:

    Qatar Iraq UAE Palestine Sri Lanka Kuwait Oman Bangladesh And Uzbekistan [/unordered]

    Teams in the Eastern Region of the Pre-Qualifiers consist of teams from Oceania and the SEABA and EABA Sub-Zones including:

    Guam Tahiti Singapore Thailand Hong Kong Malaysia Cambodia Vietnam And Mongolia [/unordered]

    The Pre-Qualifiers will be played in two Rounds. In the First Round, the teams in each Region will be divided into two Groups with Groups A (4 teams) and B (5 teams) for the Western Region and Groups C (4 teams) and D (5 teams) for the Eastern Region. These groups will play in separate Round Robin tournaments to qualify three best ranked teams to the Second Round.

    In the Second Round, the three best ranked teams in Groups A and B will combine as Group E of the second round while the three best ranked teams in Groups C and D will combine as Group F. Each team will play against the three new teams in their respective groups. The records of each team will carry over from the First Round.

    The four best ranked teams in each group will qualify for the Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.

    The tournaments will be hosted by one of the participating National Federations in each respective group throughout both rounds. The bidding process to host the tournaments has not yet started, though the hosts will soon be named for both the Western and Eastern Regions.

    The First Round of the Asia Cup 2025 Pre-Qualifiers is scheduled to take place from 31 May to 5 June this year while the Second Round will take place from 1-4 February 2023.

    The teams in each group are composed according to the FIBA World Ranking as follows:
