Draw results in for 2022 FIBA U18 Women's African Championship
The draw for the FIBA Women's U18 African Championship was completed on Wednesday night for the eight-team tournament that tips off on Friday afternoon, August 5.
ANTSIRABE (Madagascar) - The draw for the 2022 FIBA Women's U18 African Championship was completed on Wednesday night for the eight-team tournament that tips off on Friday afternoon, August 5.
The two groups have been drawn as follows:
Group A: Madagascar (hosts), Algeria, Mali, Uganda
Group B: Egypt (reigning champions), Angola, Guinea, Tanzania
The tournament will use a round-robin format, where each team will face other once in their respective groups. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the semi-finals, while the bottom two will play in the classification games.
The finalists of the tournament will gain qualification for the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup to be held in Madrid, Spain, next year.
The opening game on Friday will see, Algeria open their Group A campaign against Mali at 3pm (East African Time), while defending champions Egypt take on Guinea in Group B.
