COLORADO SPRINGS (2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship) - There is strong competition for the 12 players who represented the USA at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Women's Championship after a total of 150 were invited to take part in trials ahead of next month's FIBA U17 Women's World Championship.

The huge gathering of potential participants at the 16-team tournament in Zaragoza will take place at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and will be whittled down to a dozen candidates, with the final roster to be announced on 3 June.

Led by returning head coach Dori Oldaker - who presided over a third-place finish in the Mexican city of Puebla last year - those players who competed in Mexico will be hoping for the chance of redemption.

Top scorer Alexis Morris, who averaged 13.6 points per game, headlines the returnees present at the trials, along with the likes of backcourt partner Desiree Caldwell who handed out 3.6 assists per game.

The USA will go up against Czech Republic, Italy and Korea in Group C during the Group Phase of the FIBA U17 Women World Championship, with the defending champions having won all three previous editions of the tournament.
