Gonzalez names fast, perimeter-dominant Puerto Rico team for U17 World Cup
SAN JUAN (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Puerto Rico head coach Omar Gonzalez named a team that is quick and very perimeter orientated for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018.

Gonzalez called back nine of the players that finished third at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 in addition to Diego Romero, Tori San Antonio and Phillip Wheeler.

"We have a very mature U17 team, focused and committed on representing their country. This is not about just any tournament, it is a World Cup and they know that our eyes will be on them. We expect many good things from this group," said Yum Ramos, president of Puerto Rico's basketball federation.
Puerto Rico, who are back at the U17 World Cup for the first time since finishing fifth in 2014, will face Australia, Dominican Republic and Turkey in Group A of June 30-July 8 tournament.

"This is a team that is seasoned and well united, even though it is a little different. It is a perimeter team, faster and all of average height. But the best feature is that they do not fear anything," Gonzalez added.
