The Italian star was the inspiration behind an 88-68 success against Israel as she accumulated an eye-bulging 33 points on her way to a giant performance efficiency valuation of 39. Shooting a stunning 75 percent from the floor, she also added 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals for good measure.
Emma Meesseman was the best on the opening day and continued her rich vein of form with a similarly impressive performance efficiency valuation of 37. The Cats' ace was the driving force behind a one-sided 84-41 win against Czech Republic as she dropped a majestic 24 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals.
Great Britain captain Temi Fagbenle did everything she could to inspire her team to another win, but despite an excellent 20 points and 8 rebounds, they were beaten 63-57 by France.
Center Teaira McCowan proved the savior for Turkey as they got a first win in dramatic fashion by beating Hungary 69-68. She produced 14 points, 15 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks - one of which was the game-winning play as she swatted away the last possession of the contest.
Last but not least, Spain hit back after their opening day loss to Latvia by producing a sparkling last period against Montenegro to get a first win in the books. Maria Conde was the main architect of the 78-57 victory with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
