Ossipenko ready to lead Kazakhstan to the top tier

BENGALURU (FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017 Division B) - If Kazakhstan are to show why they're a favorite to gain promotion from the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017 Division B, then Oxana Ossipenko must be on form.

BENGALURU (FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017 Division B) - If Kazakhstan are to live up to their billing as one of the favorites to gain promotion from the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2017 Division B, then Oxana Ossipenko will be central to that aim.

There are high hopes from within the Kazakhstan camp that they can make a serious push towards the top flight and they will rely heavily on their veteran forward to get the job done.

She poured in almost 13 points per game in Wuhan two years ago and is about to step out at her fourth straight edition.

"I think this Kazakhstan team will win Division B and go to Division A," declared the 32-year-old.

“My experience will benefit the team, although I believe that playing the host team of India could be challenging.

She added, "We have been preparing by playing three practice games as part of a tournament in Uzbekistan."

The clash with India certainly looks like I could be the pivotal game in Division B – or at least if both teams can excel in their respective groups.

With India pitched into Group A, Kazakhstan will play Fiji, Lebanon and Singapore in Group B.
