Cameroon confirmed as hosts for FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2021
ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - FIBA Africa on Friday confirmed Cameroon as the host country of the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2021.
ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - FIBA Africa has on Wednesday confirmed Cameroon as the host country of the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2021.
The women's continental basketball showpiece is set to be held from September 17-26, 2021 at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex in the Cameroonian capital.
The announcement was made after the host agreement was signed by the Cameroon Sports Minister Kombi Mouelle on behalf of the Cameroon Government.
The tournament returns to Yaounde for the first time since 2015 when the hosts finished second in the 12-nation competition.
Hosts Cameroon alongside the 2019 Semi-Finalists which include the reigning champions Nigeria, finalists Senegal, third and fourth-placed Mali and Mozambique automatically qualified for this year's edition while the other seven slots are up for grabs.
Regional qualifying tournaments are set to commence later this month all through to July across the continent with the winners automatically booking a place in Cameroon.
