LUANDA (FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017) - Alicia DeVaughn has been awarded the MVP Award following an incredible display at the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017 in the Angolan capital.
The 26-year old, who averaged 14 points per game and registered three game highs, was the player that made the most difference for the Angolan giants Primeiro de Agosto to win their third African trophy.
D'Agosto caught all their opponents by surprise when they named DeVaughn in their side for the annual continental showpiece because many a team planned for forward Leia Dongue, a regular tormentor in the paint.
At 6ft3in, DeVaughn provided size and experience to Jaime Covilha's side to help out Sonia Ndoniema and Luisa Tomas but it was her partnership with Dongue that produced 44% of Primeiro de Agosto's points - 178 of the total 406.
DeVaughn was also named in the All-Star Five of the tournament along with Dominique Wilson, Italee Lucas, Dongue and Veronica Gisela Vega.
